Our Mission

Rooted Resilience has been operating since 2020, providing nature-based educational opportunities and mentorship for youth across Marion county, and we have served over 100 youth in our outdoor educational programming.

Our vision at Rooted Resilience, is to provide opportunities to foster interdependence and community resilience through nature-based mentorship and education. Our focus is on social, emotional, ecologically centered educational opportunities for youth ages 5-16.

Rooted resilience holds a vision of providing opportunities for individuals within our rural community to connect with their bodies and the land, in ways that they may not otherwise access. We know that when youth build resilience by connecting with and stewarding the land they are living on, engaging with creative arts, and learning how to tend their bodies and nervous systems, families and communities are stronger.

We contract with facilitators who are educators, coaches, parents and therapists, all holding strong-hearted vision for serving young people in our community.

Hey. Welcome.

I'm Shea and I'm so glad you're here.

I am a mother, youth mentor, space holder, educator, community tender and healer. My ancestral lineage descends from Scottish/Irish, English/Germanic and Norse peoples & I am offering my services from Silverton, Oregon (original home of the Molalla and Kalapuya people) where I live with my two young children, chickens, old growth oaks and a garden full of plant buddies. The school of life has been my best teacher, especially the service of motherhood.

I love life deeply, and am devoted to reflecting beauty. My life is devoted to upholding my responsibility as a mama, earth-tender and guide for young people. I express my love for life by singing, creating ritual, communing with nature, gathering with those I love, moving my body, deep laughter, exploring and wildcrafting.

My north star vision is a belief that young ones (our greatest teachers) deserve holistic education, nature-based experiences and rooted mentorship as they unfold through their exploration of Self. Despite layers of increasing complexity and grief of this time, it is not impossible to imagine a world where all individuals are anchored in belonging, where young people receive the respect and support they deserve, and are honored and supported through their transitions into adulthood.
